The WIN of the Week
This week marks another milestone in my website design journey as I kick off my capstone project focused on revolutionizing the sports and fitness digital experience. The biggest accomplishment this week was finalizing a comprehensive research plan that will guide me the development of a responsive website that truly speaks to health enthusiasts’ needs. Through carefully planned user research, I’ll be diving deep into understanding how fitness enthusiasts interact with digital platforms, aiming to interview and survey real users to create authentic personas.
What makes this particularly exciting is the decision to create a custom design system – a foundation that will ensure consistency and efficiency across both web and mobile platforms.
I realized that focusing on the sports and fitness industry would allow me to create something more impactful and showcase my UI/UX skills more effectively. The project scope has been thoughtfully structured to include everything from initial wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes in Figma, all while keeping the focus on user-centered design principles. What I’m most proud of is how the project plan balances ambitious goals with realistic timelines, breaking down the work into manageable 30-50 hour phases for research, design, and testing.
Key Learning
It may not be the biggest thing that I learned this week but more of biggest step that I gained is a deeper understanding of the importance of a structured UI/UX design pipeline in developing user research skills and mastering responsive design. I discovered that creating a formalized design system is not just about consistency but also about building a scalable foundation that evolves with user needs. I were inspired by Google’s Material Design principles, which emphasize creating experiences that feel natural across all devices. This insight has improved a little on my project’s approach to user research and technical implementation, ensuring I achieved my learning objectives by April.
